Eathquakes....We sense it :)

Hello once again....
In the past week, I found out one interesting topic about animals....
Animals sensing the Earthquakes...yes you read it properly animals do sense earthquakes...
The human kind as usual started to find ways to predict earthquakes and found out that animals do sense earthquakes and many studies happened around that till now.
Rats and snakes started deserting your place,Catfish moving violently, chicken stop laying eggs,Bees leaving their hive,Your pet it may be Cat or Dog started behaving strangely. These are the few signs which have been reported so far by some studies.
According to BBC,Animals may sense chemical changes in groundwater that occur when an earthquake is about to strike. This, scientists say, could be the cause of bizarre earthquake-associated animal behavior.

There are some incidents where people have spotted strange behavior, below are some of them
  • In 373 B.C., historians recorded that animals, including rats, snakes and weasels, deserted the Greek city of Helice in droves just days before a quake devastated the place
  • A colony of toads abandon its pond in L'Aquila, Italy, in 2009 - days before a quake
  • In 1975, in Haicheng, China, for example, many people spotted snakes emerging from their burrows a month before the city was hit by a large earthquake. This was particularly odd, because it occurred during the winter. The snakes were in the middle of their annual hibernation, and with temperatures well below freezing, venturing outside was suicide for the cold-blooded reptiles.
  • Before China's devastating 2008 earthquake, zebras banged their heads against doors, elephants swung their trunks wildly, lions and tigers paced when they should have been napping, and peacocks screeched simultaneously just 5 minutes before the tremors struck. Similar stories came from the Asian tsunami in 2005.

I guess by now you would be thinking to step out of your house once when your dog starts behaving weirdly. Here is the bad news for you. After years of study, the U.S. Geological Survey has this to say: “Changes in animal behavior cannot be used to predict earthquakes. Even though there have been documented cases of unusual animal behavior prior to earthquakes, a reproducible connection between a specific behavior and the occurrence of an earthquake has not been made. Animals change their behavior for many reasons and given that an earthquake can shake millions of people, it is likely that a few of their pets will, by chance, be acting strangely before an earthquake.”

As usual for each and every topic in this world some people will stand for it and some people will be against it.
This topic is also not different in that case. Some studies would be going on to prove it right and some would be to prove it wrong.Lets wish both of them good luck.

Until then Happy reading :)
